Asheville Bound

A misty travel day for us through Nashville, Knoxville and Asheville.  It's been a wonderful trip for us and it's especially nice with no major hassles or problems.  Our last stop before home was with Mandy for dinner in Asheville.  Always nice to catch up with her.

Until our next adventure.......let's see what we are thinking about.....New Orleans, Rose Bowl Parade (to help with a float), Alaska, Canada, more western states, Texas, the Great Lakes....just to name a few.

Made it to Central Time.....

We both had our sights set to get to Kentucky Lakes. Two years ago, we found this KOA way off the beaten path.  It is so well worth it.  We managed again, to get a premium site right on the water.  This place offers so much for all.....boat rentals, fishing, pool, mini-golf, cabin rentals, go-cart rentals, trampoline's....a paradise for kids.

Our Front Yard View

and then here comes the boat!

and now the sunset!

How far will we get today!

Not to far....3 miles up the road from Paxico, KS to a Wine Cellar. lol    Had to go check the wine tasting out.  Buddy, of course, opt out.....so I say "More for Me".  All the wines here were harvested and bottled in Kansas out of Elderberry's.  Quite tasty, especially after a few.

Better get back on the road and see where our travels take us - hopefully out of Kansas.  But not after we stop and check out one of the antique stores.  I was so impressed with this one store, it had so many primitive pieces, pottery, art etc. but what caught our eye was that they restore old wood burning heaters and stoves.  I saw my Granny's wood stove that I remember she had and Buddy found his old heater like the one he had at Mountain Village.  Pretty fancy stoves.

Okay, so now we are in Montgomery City, Missouri.  Found a peaceful place called "Kan-Do-Kampgound".  All the roads were related to a frog....Bullfrog Boulevard, Frog Hollow, Ribbit Road, Toadstool Trail.....guess they like frogs.  At least it was clean and quite (other than the ribbits)!

Will we ever get out of Kansas!

I new we were going to take it slow getting back home, but I never thought we would have been in Kansas for 2 nights....we barely made it over the Colorado border when we just wanted to stop.  Stayed at the Goodland KOA.  Only traveled just over 330 miles!  Will we do better tomorrow....or just stop and smell the roses!

Day 2 of home bound - arose at 9 am and cooked breakfast for our travels.  I spent alot of time on the internet today trying to find out the campground in Sanibel, Florida I booked back in April for next year....No luck....Can't believe I lost my confirmation information.  I don't even remember the name of the place.

Our travels today brought us to Paxico, Kansas with another 330 miles on the odometer. Not alot of rode time in, but that's what a road trip is all about. We found a quaint little camp ground that was just a mile off the expressway.

We are truly in the middle of no where!

This little town is just full of antique shops.  This particular picture is just a jull of old signs....this is also the road into the Mill Creek Campground, where we ended up Friday night.  (Still in Kansas)

Dinner tonight was at "Puffy's Steak House" - Recommend by our campground host.  We traveled just a few miles away to even a smaller town.  The restaurant was nice enough and the steaks were very tasty but tough.

Forgot about the railroad tracks next to us at the camp site.....didn't get alot of sleep.

Count Down

Tuesday was an earlier morning to rise....we are headed to Wyoming with Jeremy and Jamie to help transport the hunting vehicle, horse trailer and equipment.  A very long ride, but so enjoyed the scenry.  Our 3 hour drive took us 7 hours......back roads, bathroom breaks, lunch, and we probably never went over 45 mph.

First bear I've seen in route to Jeremy's place...so cute!

Another site I seldom see is a buck....the doe's are everywhere!  He wasn't even scared of us...in fact, he kept walking toward us - kind of creepy.  Jeremy said they know it's not hunting season quite yet!

Not to far from Jeremy's camp.

Finally made it to his camp where he will be for the next 3 months.  Meet the boss and another hunter and helped Jeremy set up somewhat.  Probably stayed an hour...and then back on the road.  Made it back at 9 pm and dinner was already ready for us just to heat up....Bison Roast!  It was so tender and delicious.

Back to our camp for a bit of a shut eye and then up, up early for our final breakfast with J & J before we all head to our jobs....well some of us, we will be on the road back to the south.

Low Country Boil

Beautiful afternoon for a cookout at Jamies....It's Low Country Boil time with family and friends.

It only took 3 of us (lol) on the cooker and Jamie in the kitchen baking Pumpkin Cheesecake, cornbread, whipping up the guacamole dip and spiking the Mojito's.

and the guests start to arrive (with their furry friends).....fun time!

Dinner Time!

Jamie's neighbor (Allen) with Babe and Claire

An fairly early evening for us.....we're off to Wyoming tomorrow for a day trip to Jeremy's hunting camp.

Muddy Waters Benefit

The mudslides in the Sweetwater Community caused alot of destruction a few weeks back.  We attended a fund raiser last night at Moe's Barbecue to help with the cause.  Turn out was overwhelming.  Good BQ, live band, live and silent auction, free beer....definitely a good time.  We went home with a 10 lb. bison roast, 15 lbs. of bison brats and two $50 certificates to the Sweetwater Ranch Restaurant.  I also wanted to bid on the half-day horse back riding trip to the Flat Tops, but they were only offering it in the Fall. That would have been a blast.   The Rogers from the Sweetwater Bison Ranch donated the beef and also gave me an award winning recipe for the roast.  Looking forward to roasting it.

A beautiful evening and so glad we could help with the benefit.  Tomorrow we're doing a cookout with alot of Jeremy and Jamie's friends at Jamie's place.  Low Country Boil....Yum!

A Rainy Day

Cancelled river rafting trip ....not much fun in the rain, but love the pitter-patter of the rain on a tin roof.  Just as well, really wanted to just relax, nap and watch movies.  We'll shoot for Friday and Saturday on the Colorado....weather is suppose to be perfect.

Evening weather last night was 56 degrees...nice!  Buddy and I enjoyed dinner at the Rusty Boot.  Tomorrow is work day for Jeremy, Buddy and Jamie.....I chose to stay back and catch up on laundry and me time!
